Letter of the week: F
“Show and tell” things that we brought. Before group, email everyone to bring something that starts with the letter F. Go around the circle so everyone can share their special item!
Lesson:
Fruit of the spirit!
Who likes fruit? What is your favorite fruit? Where does fruit come from??Show a pot with dirt and have some seeds.
What happens when we plant these seeds? Something grows right? Apples, bananas, flowers, etc.
When we ask Jesus to come live in our hearts, and His Spirit lives in us and things grow up out of our hearts- not REAL plants, or fruit, but things called ‘spiritual fruit’.
Lets talk about some of these:
LOVE:
Think of someone who LOVES you, mommy, daddy, nana, pop pop, your baby sister, etc. Do they still love you even when you don’t listen? Or you do something naughty? Yes. Who do YOU love??? (mommy, daddy, friend, sibling, etc) God loves us too, no matter what, he even loves you more than your parents! He can help us love others the way we should.
PATIENCE: Have you ever asked your mommy or daddy for something and they say ‘Wait a minute?’ Waiting can be hard right?? God can help us to be patient (which means waiting without throwing a tantrum or getting mad.)
JOY:Joy is like being happy, but happy even when things don’t go our way..Like, someone is not nice to us, or won’t share, or we have to do something we don’t like to do like maybe our chores, etc.
Who knows what it means to be ‘kind’? Kind is like being ‘nice’. And God asks us to be ‘kind’ to everyone..Our mommies and daddies, our brother or sister, our friends. What about friends who aren’t very nice to us? Do we still need to be kind? Yes. And that can be hard, because if someone hits you or takes your toy, you might want to hit them back right? But, Jesus can help us to show kindness to them, and maybe just walk away instead of fighting back…
